The New York Knicks are currently trying to find a head coach who can keep the roster largely intact and help retain Carmelo Anthony. It appears that Steve Kerr is their guy but he hasn’t been hired yet and the future of Carmelo Anthony remains up in the air.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban sees this as Carmelo Anthony still being fair game to go after, and according to ESPN.com he plans on doing that. But not only is Cuban after Melo, but he’s also interested in bringing back Tyson Chandler to the Big D.

Per Marc Stein:

"The most interesting whisper, at this early stage, is that the Mavs intend to be at the front of the line to try to reacquire Tyson Chandler should the Knicks make their defensive anchor available via trade."

While the struggles of the Knicks have dampened Chandler’s aura, we tend to forget that he was a part of the Mavericks championship team that knocked off the Miami Heat in 2011. Chandler took his talents to New York after that but is now a free agent for just the second time in his career and that could lead him back to Dallas.

If he brings Melo with him, then Dallas will have gone from hustlers who almost knocked off the Spurs to a favorite to win it all in 2014-15.
