The New York Knicks thought they had found their man to lead the team as next head coach in Steve Kerr, but the brakes have been repeatedly  pumped on Kerr being a slam-dunk candidate. It’s long been thought to be Kerr’s job to lose, but it’s not even technically a job he’s been offered yet.

According to Marc Berman of The New York Post, the Knicks have yet to formally offer Kerr the job, which begs the question of what’s taking so long for it to happen. This deal was supposed to be in the bag at the start of the Conference Semifinals but we are now a week into the round and the Knicks are no closer to hiring Kerr than they were a week ago.

This has allowed the Golden State Warriors to sneak into negations with Kerr and it might lead to the Knicks ultimately losing Kerr to the Dubs. That would be an outrageous situation, but it also seems exactly like something that could and usually does happen to the Knicks.
