With several available positions, this summer will be interesting as the head coaching carousel takes its turn. And one guy that’ll be readily available is George Karl who has expressed that he’s ready to return to the NBA sideline.

"Current ESPN analyst George Karl confirmed Thursday that he’s interested in a return to coaching after saying in an interview on SiriusXM Radio earlier in the day that he’d “like to get back in the gym.”“I’m enjoying my role at ESPN,” Karl said in a statement. “I’d be interested in the right coaching opportunity, but I respect the coaching profession too much to become a distraction to the process.”via George Karl interested in coaching | ESPN"

Karl’s dismissal from a Denver Nuggets team that won 50-plus games last seasons till confuses many. Some pin his removal on his willingness to play the likes of Kosta Koufos and Timofey Mozgov ahead of Javale McGree in the rotation as the front office wanted McGee to start, hoping he’d live it to the 4-year, $44 million contract he signed with the team in 2012.

What happened with the Nuggets won’t hinder Karl from getting a job for the upcoming season. According to multiple reports, two openings Karl is interested in are Los Angeles and Detroit. The Pistons jobs seems easier to obtain at the moment due to the lack of high-profile coaches openly wanting this position.

“I do want to get in the gym. But in the same sense, I have a lot of respect for the game and the difficult job. Whatever Mitch is thinking or whatever Jimmy Buss is thinking or whatever Golden State is thinking or whatever Detroit is thinking. I don’t know whether jobs are open. Whatever Phil is thinking in New York. I let the process happen. I’d love to have the opportunity to talk to people when they think I’m a person that should be talked to.”

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors are also another team that could benefit from Karl’s services.

During his 25-year tenure as a head coach, George Karl has coached Cleveland, Golden State, Seattle, Milwaukee, and Denver.
