While the Florida State Seminoles were making waves during the 2014 NFL Draft, leading all teams in players drafted, their basketball team landed a big commitment when 3-star power forward Philip Cofer gave his pledge to Leonard Hamilton’s Seminoles.

John Rothstein of CBS Sports first broke the news and Cofer later confirmed it himself.

Cofer originally signed with the Tennessee Volunteers, but was released from his National Letter of Intent.

The 6’8, 205-pound Cofer is from Fayetteville, Georgia and attends Whitewater High School. He is ranked as the country’s 34th-best power forward prospect, the eighth-best overall prospect in the state of Georgia and the 148th-best overall prospect in the class of 2014, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Cofer also had offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Cincinnati Bearcats, Kansas State Wildcats and Xavier Muskateers, but committed to the Seminoles on his official visit.
