One of the most surprising picks in the NFL Draft this year centered on the Jacksonville Jaguars and their selection of Blake Bortles with the No. 3 overall pick. But while they were quick to make the pick as soon as no one traded up ahead of them to draft him, Sports on Earth’s Dan Pompei writes that Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell kept interest in Bortles a complete secret up to the point he drafted him.

This is yet another interesting draft story we can add to the pile, as the selection of Bortles was not only surprising to fans, but there were apparently a lot of other surprised officials around the league as well.

Now what the Jaguars need is for Bortles to excel and lead the Jaguars out of the depths of the AFC, as that’s the only way this story of draft day deception can get any better. There’s no saying he’ll be great, but the awesome stories about Blake Bortles and his journey to Jacksonville have already started.
