Hours after the announcement that Halo 5: Guardians would release on Microsoft’s Xbox One in the fall of 2015 along with the long-awaited Halo television series which will be co-directed by the legendary Steven Spieberg, Microsoft has something else up their sleeves pertaining to the Halo franchise according to Engadget:

"Master Chief is getting a facelift with an HD collection of his exploits. We’ve learned that Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 are being collected in a Master Chief-focused HD remaster coming from Microsoft. Our sources say that the set will zero in on Halo’s most famous soldier to refresh audience’s memories ahead of Halo 5’s release, so curiosities like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach likely won’t be a part of the package.via ‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’ coming to Xbox One this year, collects ‘Halos 1-4’"

The legacy of the Xbox game system will forever be tied to the Halo series and now Microsoft is delivering their fans a package that surely won’t disappoint due to the lack of backwards compatibility on the current generation system.

The Halo franchise is one of the best-selling video game franchises, peaking out at around 50 million units sold, putting it in the same category as Resident Evil, Crash Bandicoot, Pac-Man, and the Legend of Zelda. Dubbed Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the set will include the two highest selling games in the original Xbox’s history in Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 and the third highest-selling game in Xbox 360’s history in Halo 3. Expected in high-definition, there is hope that the collection will run at 60 frames-per-second as the rest of the Xbox One’s top notch games.

A date has yet to be announced as Microsoft or 343 Industries have yet to confirm the news, but as soon as one is revealed we will quickly fill you guys in.
