Most people who know of Giancarlo Stanton know of him because he mashes baseballs.

In fact, he’s one of the best in the world at mashing baseballs. This is only his fifth season in the league, and he already has 129 home runs. He already has 12 home runs and 43 RBIs this season, and he’s hitting .312, with a .405 on base percentage, and a .605 slugging percentage. Giancarlo Stanton gets paid a lot of money to mash baseballs, and as you can see, he’s very good at it.

More from Miami Marlins

Apparently, he can also play some pretty slick defense, and he made it well known earlier tonight. The Miami Marlins were taking on the Philadelphia Phillies, and leading 5-3 in the fifth inning. The Phils, however, had the bases loaded, and were on the verge of tying the game.

And when Cody Asche sent a line drive to the gap between center and right, it seemed they might even be on the verge of taking the lead. Until, that is, Giancarlo Stanton came flying into the screen.

Ranging far to his right, Stanton sprinted a long way to get to this ball, and then laid out, extending himself as far as his body would allow to snag the ball just seconds before it hit the ground.

Bravo, Giancarlo, bravo.
