Police issue arrest warrant for Broncos’ TJ Ward
By Mike Dyce
Safety T.J. Ward hasn’t even played in a game for the Denver Broncos yet, and he is already getting in trouble. According to Denver Police Department spokesman Sonny Jackson, Ward was involved in an altercation at a night club earlier this month.
Jackson described the incident as minor, and said he was initially issued a summons but an arrest warrant was issued because he had yet to turn himself in.

“The incident involving T.J. Ward occurred on the evening of May 9 at a nightclub in southeast Denver called Centerfold,” Jackson said in a statement to NFL.com. “We determined that there was a dispute, and he was involved in a minor altercation.
“He was issued a summons for simple assault and disturbing the peace, both misdemeanors. The arrest warrant was issued Thursday because he hasn’t turned himself in yet.”
While Ward should know better than to get in altercations at night clubs, he has to know the legal ramifications will come back to bite him. He has witnessed player after player in the NFL get in trouble for similar things. He could’ve avoided the whole “arrest warrant” situation had he simply addressed the problem when first issued the summons.
Ward signed a four-year, $23 million contract with the Broncos in March as part of the team’s defensive overhaul in free agency. Last year he got a Pro Bowl nod while playing for the Cleveland Browns.
