The Seattle Seahawks discovered a rare heart condition in sixth-round pick Garrett Scott during physicals when the rookies reported to minicamps, which led to his release and put his future as a football player up in the air.

It had to be hard for Scott to learn the news, but the Seahawks have stepped up to take care of the offensive tackle.

Despite his release the organization has agreed to pay him his full signing bonus.

The news was passed along by Curtis Crabtree of KJR Sports Radio in Seattle, who says the signing bonus is likely around $91,000.

While it is a very unfortunate situation, the Seahawks have been a classy organization every step of the way.

“We think highly of Garrett as a person and as a football player,” Seahawks general manager John Schneider said in a statement. “The team is committed to supporting Garrett in the months to come and will continue to help him determine his next steps.”

There is no telling whether or not Scott will ever be able to resume his playing career, but if he does it would not be surprising to see the Seahawks bring him back and provide him with another opportunity to make his dream of playing in the National Football League come true.
