The NBA Draft is just around the corner and already teams are starting to hammer out their final draft strategies and meet with prospects that they have even remote interest in. Two of those teams meeting with prospects are the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets and the guy they’re both meeting with is UConn star DeAndre Daniels, who figures to be a late-first or early second round draft pick this June.

According to Jeff Goodman from ESPN.com, the Hawks and Hornets both have interest in Daniels and his being brought in for a workout seems to only show just how curious the teams are about him.

Now as we see with drafts all the time, the teams who bring players in aren’t always the ones who continue to show interest in them. The Hornets have a late-first round pick they may be able to spend on Daniels but the Hawks would either have to take him at No. 15 overall or wait until the second round as suing they don’t facilitate a trade before then.

Daniels isn’t a top prospect, but he opened a lot of eyes as part of the Huskies run to the National Championship and that’s helped his draft stock rise. He’s creeping into the first-round of some mocks and he’s likely to end up in the top 35 players taken if all goes well.

The Miami Heat have shown an interest in Daniels as well, which means he may end up going higher than we think — not that it wouldn’t be deserving.
