It is very rare that both the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, the greatest franchises in NBA history are in the lottery. [category-related]

That is why both teams will use the draft to quickly get out of it. Both teams could use a shooter and arguably the two best shooters in the draft are former Michigan Wolverines’ wing Nick Stauskas and former Creighton Blue Jays’ forward Doug McDermott.

Stauskas put up 17.5 points, 3.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game in his sophomore season. He shot 47.0% from the field, 44.2% from beyond the arc and 82.4% from the free throw line.

McDermott, the Naismith Award winner as college basketball’s best player, averaged a career-high 26.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for the Blue Jays last season. He shot 52.6% from the field, 44.9% from beyond the arc and 86.4% from the free throw line.

According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com, both the Celtics and Lakers will be working out Stauskas and McDermott.

With the Celtics holding the sixth-overall pick and the Lakers holding the seventh-overall pick, both players seem like a bit of a reach. The Celtics also hold the 17th-overall pick, but it is unlikely that either player will still be around then.
