NBA Rumors: Indiana Pacers’ Lance Stephenson will have ‘no shortage’ of suitors

Now that the Indiana Pacers have been eliminated from the postseason for the third straight year, they can shift their focus to the offseason.

Their biggest question mark is the future of guard Lance Stephenson, who got himself into some trouble during the Eastern Conference Finals. Stephenson got into a war or words with Miami Heat forward LeBron James and was even caught blowing in his ear.

As Stephenson prepares to become a restricted free agent, his agent are trying to right the ship.

“He wants to make the commitment to himself and to his club — whatever club that is — to be the best person and teammate he can possibly be,” Alberto Ebanks, Stephenson’s agent, told SNY.tv by phone Saturday morning. “He is a work in progress.”

Although Stephenson has said he would like to return to the Pacers, Ebanks says there will be no shortage of suitors.

“The season has ended prematurely for the Pacers and Lance,” Ebanks said. “When all is said and done, Lance Stephenson will be evaluated on his complete body of work. It will then be crystal clear that he possesses a unique skill set and a rare ability to impact the game on both ends of the court. Lance plans to continue to work hard this summer in an effort to improve all facets of himself and his game. He looks forward to what the future holds.”

Stephenson averaged 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game this season while shooting 49.1% from the field, 35.2% from beyond the arc and 71.1% from the charity stripe in the regular season. In the postseason, he put up 13.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He shot 45.5% from the field, 35.8% from downtown and 71.4% from the free throw line.
