The Alabama Crimson Tide could be in the midst of putting together a historic recruiting class in 2015.

The Tide, who seem to lock down the top recruiting class every year, currently have the number one recruiting class this year. Entering the day Monday, the Tide had 17 commitments, including one 5-star prospect (cornerback Minkah Fitzgerald of St. Peters Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey, 12 4-star prospects and four 3-star prospects).

They added to the top-ranked class on Monday when 4-star defensive tackle T.D. Moton gave his pledge to the Tide.

The 6’2.5, 310-pounder is from Shreveport, Louisiana and attends Woodlawn High School.

“It just looked like the best place for him,” Woodlawn head coach Jerwin Wilson told AL.com. “It’s a place he can develop as a person and as a player.”

Moton committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs back in November, but decided to decommit from the Bulldogs and open things back up in January. Since then, Moton has been particularly interested in three schools – the Tide, the LSU Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies. He visited the Aggies in January, attended the Tigers’ junior day in February and was back in College Station in March for another visit. He camped with the Tide over the weekend and committed to them after meeting head coach Nick Saban.

Moton announced his decision via twitter.

Moton is ranked as the country’s 21st-best defensive tackle prospect, the 11th-best overall prospect from the state of Louisiana and the 271st-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
