Dying Light gets controversial new trailer

For years, the gaming industry has been looked at by the mainstream media as the root of all evil, being the cause for various forms of violence to occur because of actions found inside video games. It’s an industry that is never short of controversy, and rarely stays away from it.

And once again, controversy has found the gaming world.

Dying Light, the game that has been delayed into 2015, claims in its most recent trailer that there’s a murderer in all of us.

That last bit may be tough for nearly anyone to swallow. Fortunately, Dying Light clears up any misconceptions and notes the only things dying will be that of the undead.  Techland, the developer behind Dead Island, is looking to make a splash on both previous and current generation consoles, and taking Dying Light to a controversial area pre-launch may be one way to get some extra face time.

Much like Dead Island, Techland will focus on the slaughter of undead zombies in Dying Light, but will also incorporate new parkour aspects into the game.

Although Dying Light has already been pushed back into 2015, the game will have a presence at E3.  The E3 trailer is viewable above, and the game will be launched on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC next year.

Ted’s Takes: While Dying Light isn’t doing itself any favors tying murder to video games, it also doesn’t go far enough to step over any boundaries.  With games seeming to get a bad rap when things go wrong with adolescents in today’s day and age, it’s a fine line to cross.  Following in the footsteps of the ever popular zombie and undead genre, Dying Light should see no problem being a hit once 2015 rolls around.
