Report: Clippers to explore acquiring LeBron James

As always, ESPN’s Bill Simmons is stirring the pot. While you may not be a fan of Simmons on ESPN’s NBA pre-game show, he’s excellent when it comes to creating conversation and getting people talking. This time the topic of discussion is the Los Angeles Clippers and how they’d go about acquiring LeBron James if he chooses to go West.

"I still believe the most likely outcome is LeBron opting back into his Miami deal for one more year. Buys him time for a variety of things.— Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) June 18, 2014"

Once the Heat walked off the floor losers of the 2014 NBA Finals, the conversation on where James could end up for the 2014-15 season as his teammates failed him on the biggest stage took off and, of course, one of the destinations often mentioned was the Los Angeles Clippers.

Outside of the whole Donald Sterling dilemma, the Clippers present James with the perfect situation. The franchise is in a city better than Miami, they have an elite head coach in Doc Rivers, two bonafide stars in Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. They’d have to parse the remainder of the roster, but in this situation, it’s hard to find a scenario where the Clippers + LeBron can’t find talent wiling to take less to play for what would be the best team in the NBA.

It’s early for serious contemplation, but in a world where basketball sleeps, rumors have wasted no time in infiltrating our lives and this is only the beginning of what will be a long streamline in regard to LeBron James.
