Joel Embiid suffers stress fracture in right foot, will not attend NBA Draft
By Jack Crosby
With just one week until the NBA Draft is set to take place, the news just keeps getting worse and worse on this Thursday for the young man that has been slated to be the consensus no. 1 overall pick, Joel Embiid. Earlier in the day on Thursday, it was reported that Embiid had suffered some sort of foot injury that could potentially hurt that top-level stock next week.

Now, Yahoo’s resident basketball expert Adrian Wojnarowski says that Embiid’s agent has confirmed that his client suffered a stress fracture in his right foot, and surgery will be performed on Friday.
Not long after the report, Embiid’s agent also pointed out that there will obviously be no more workouts and his client will miss the festivities in New York next week.
In the past few weeks leading up to the draft, it started to become more and more clear that Embiid would be taken no. 1 overall by the Cavaliers, even with the uncertainty surrounding him because of the back issues while at Kansas last year.
Now, with this news, you can almost guarantee that he will not be the top overall pick, which if the Cavaliers were banking on selecting him, the event next Thursday could get very interesting as other teams will now try even harder to get up to that top spot.
