The Boston Celtics had a tough go throughout the 2013-14 NBA season, winning just 25 games in the team’s first year following the departures of coach Doc Rivers and legends Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

But, with several tradable assets, the Celtics have an opportunity to make some moves this summer that would again make them a contender in the Eastern Conference.

Boston point guard Rajon Rondo, for one, said on ESPN’s Numbers Never Lie that he would like to see one of the moves be acquiring potential free forward Carmelo Anthony.

From Boston.com:

"“You never know what Danny [Ainge] is capable of doing,” Rondo said. “I can’t tell you too much. We want to be contenders as well next year. We don’t plan on being down for too long. I think Danny has a lot of wiggle room with what he’s done the last couple years with the draft so I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen so hopefully [Carmelo] doesn’t go to Chicago.”Rondo continued: “After we try to get Melo, or that additional piece, then who knows? The sky’s the limit. I play to try to win a championship every year. And with Melo I think it’s very possible.”"

Melo isn’t the only big-name that Rondo has his eyes on. He also discussed the possibility of Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love heading to Boston.

"“We need a couple pieces, but having a guy like Kevin Love wouldn’t hurt as well.”"

If Rondo wants to try and win a title every season as he mentioned, he better hope Danny Ainge can pull off a blockbuster move for one of the two all-stars.
