With Carmelo Anthony officially opting out of his contract with the New York Knicks, he’s free to finally look around at whoever he wants to sign with and can officially put himself on the market.

More from Chicago Bulls

According to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News, Carmelo Anthony is getting plenty of recruiting calls but he’s pretty much done returning or taking any of them.  Specifically, he’s not returning the recruiting calls he’s apparently been bombarded with from Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah.

"Carmelo Anthony has been getting quite a few recruiting calls from Joakim Noah over the past week, but according to people close to the Knicks star, he hasn’t returned one of them."

This probably has less to do with Melo not wanting to play for the Bulls than it does he simply doesn’t want to keep talking to Joakim Noah about the same thing. If Noah is making that strong of a push, it’s apparently having a positive effect back in Chicago as the Bulls are getting more and more behind the idea of acquiring Melo.

Still, Noah might not want to lay it on too thick as he’s going to end up throwing Melo off the Bulls trail which is the opposite of what his recruitment calls are meant for. Still, Melo is now an free agent and he simply doesn’t have the time he used to just devote to Noah and his calls begging him to come to Chicago.
