Last night, before all of this LeBron James business went down, we heard a report that the Cavaliers might be trading either Kyrie Irving or Dion Waiters before or during the draft to help change up the roster in a way that makes it more successful on the court.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

After the LeBron James news this morning, we can revisit this report with a little different approach, as the Cavaliers now seem to be far more likely to deal Waiters than Irving now that LeBron is back in play.

LeBron opting out changes everything for the Cavaliers as they were on the fence about Waiters anyways and now have a perfect opportunity to jettison him and still come out ahead no matter what. They might end up being able to land a player that makes them more attractive for LeBron, and if they miss out on him then at least they got up the gall to trade Waiters anyways.

All of this is going to be stated again and again in the LeBron rumor mill, but the Cavaliers already had incentive to trade Waiters before in order to keep Irving happy and have further incentive now that LeBron is back in play. If it comes down to it, Irving is a much better sales pitch than Waiters, which might seal his fate in Cleveland once and for all.
