Nothing is set in stone yet, but there may be some interest by the Atlanta Hawks for Kent Bazemore.

Bazemore has been in the NBA for two years, spending most of it with the Golden State Warriors before being traded to the Los Angles Lakers. He only averaged 2 points in 6 minutes, per game, with the Warriors. After being traded to the Lakers, Bazemore’s scoring total increased to 13 points per game over 28 minutes. He also had a significant jump in three point percentage with the Lakers, going up to 37%. His effective Field Goal percentage in LA was 51%, compared to 42% in Golden State.

The Hawks are looking for players that can help solidify their perimeter. This is evident when looking at previous moves like signing Thabo Sefelosha. The Hawks perimeter unit was in shambles last season when Demarre Carroll and Kyle Korver got injured, so it makes sense Atlanta is looking to improve in that area.

Signing Bazemore isn’t going to be the key to making the Hawks a contender, but he could definitely help them. In Golden State, Bazemore struggled due to low minutes and playing in an offense that stagnated very easily. Compared to the Lakers much more free flowing and fast paced offense. While the improvement has to be noted, it’s very possible Bazemore was just putting up empty numbers on a bad team. But it’s not gonna hurt the Hawks by just talking to him.
