Kids react to Game Boy

Time to make you feel old. It’s been 25 years since the original Nintendo Game Boy made its public debut.

In their latest “Kids React” video, The Fine Brothers give children, ages 6-13, their classic Game Boy system and record their reactions to the now-classic gaming device.

The consensus? The console is boring.

Many kids had no idea what the console was, some had parents who owned one and one kid even owned one himself in order to play Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue.

Talk about a shot to the gut of millions of people who grew up with the handheld. To call this revolutionary device boring is like calling, well, you can’t really compare it to anything else. That’s how gut-punching that statement is.

One child even went on to attack the devices name, saying that,” Girls can play this, why can’t it be call Game Boy Girl?”

The best reaction to the video had to be a kid stating, “I kind of feel sad for the people in the past.”

Though, there is one kid who knew just how important the console was to the industry. He knew that without the Game Boy, the 3DS likely wouldn’t have come into existence.

Mike’s Musings: It’s not surprising that most have no idea what a console that is 25 years old is or does. Then again, I knew what an Atari 2600 was when I was six, even if the console was 19 years old at that time. That being said, I don’t know about you, but I really want to pull out my Game Boy all of a sudden.
