New digital early movie releases

Not a fan of this weeks movie releases? Neither was I. Oh, I have Bad Words added to my personal VUDU account, but have yet to watch it. Despite the lackluster additions to this weeks home video rentals, the digital market has a couple more films that you can watch, early.

Rio 2 was made available last week on digital services and will be released next week on DVD and Blu-ray, but as a reminder, you can still get the early viewing of the film and all its special features now.

This week’s digital release films are not great, but they are not necessarily bad either.

Heaven is For Real, starring Greg Kinnear and based off the book by the same name, is now available on digital services and again, as always, I implore you to check with your digital provider before purchasing any film. I use VUDU, so I know these films are available today.

Heaven follows the “true” story of a young boy, four years of age, who has a near death experience. When he wakes up he has vivid memories of the afterlife. He tells his parents about all the people he saw including his grandfather whom he had never met. The story makes you question your own introspective beliefs and let’s you think about what might be on the other side.  The trailer is below.

In addition to Heaven, you can check out the not so biblical or religious Sabotage starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger leads a team against a drug cartel, and there are gunfights. The movie was in release at the theaters for 49 days and grossed only $10 million and change domestically. It added another $7 million from the foreign box office, making you wonder why the film wasn’t released earlier on digital, or for that matter hard copy DVD.

I’ll keep you updated on the newest releases for digital home movie viewing when they, well, become available.
