From one great Dallas Cowboys wide receiver to the next, NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin expects Dez Bryant to put up big numbers once again for the Cowboys in the upcoming 2014 NFL season.

Irvin spoke about Bryant’s exceptional ability to play the position recently on the NFL network:

"(He’s) just a physically-gifted beast of a football player. He’s learning more and more about the game each year. He’s getting better and better each year. I’m expecting that explosive year out of him this season."

Dez has continued to improve on the field in each successive season, proving to among the league’s best at the position. Not only has his play on the field continued to impress, he has mostly maintained his composure off the field as well as staying out of trouble much to the delight of the Cowboys front office.

More from Dallas Cowboys

In the last four years, Dez is second in the league in touchdowns with 40 and tenth in receiving yards with 4,104. Last year, Dez hauled in 93 receptions for 1,233 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Even with Dez’s athletic prowess, the Cowboys have struggled in recent years to win football games. Last season, the team ended with an 8-8 record for the third consecutive year, coming in 2nd in the NFC East while failing to make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

Even with Bryant continually improving, the Cowboys need plenty of help from the Defense if they have any chance of making the playoffs next season and ending their four year drought.
