Don’t be foolish and mistake signing and playing for as the same thing as they couldn’t be anymore different when it comes to Melo. No matter what he plans on doing after he signs his contract though, it’s apparent that the team he’s going to put pen to paper for — at least initially — are the New York Knicks.
Frank Isola from the New York Daily News reported the Melo deal earlier in the week and Yahoo! Sports insider Adrian Wojnarowski finally gave the report his blessing.
What happens after the deal is signed is almost as big a mystery as where Melo would sign in the first place. The consensus seems to be that the Chicago Bulls are the best landing spot for Melo but they may not be able to pull off a trade to get him.
He could also stay in New York, which is something that he’s been torn over doing for a week now. Either way, Melo is going to be signing with the Knicks but that hardly puts an end to the drama of where he will play in 2014-15.
