LeSean McCoy hasn’t been shy about his admiration for Nick Foles. At a charity event in Philadelphia, he reiterated his trust in the Eagles quarterback before adding onto it with more heaps of praise.

More from NFL

“Nick Foles has really taken a jump, to really being a star,” McCoy said on video from a celebrity charity basketball game at Neumann University, per CSN Philly. “He showed us a glimpse of him being a great player with his stats, and being in a tough situation he had to take over, but he’s really turned it on.”

Nick Foles enjoyed a breakout year in 2013 thanks to manning the helm of the best running team in football. While everyone talked about the high-flying run game and Chip Kelly’s amazing offense, few took time to appreciate the fantastic season produced by Foles.

Foles completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,891 yards, 27 touchdown passes and just 2 (two!) interceptions in 13 starts. He added three more rushing touchdowns to boot.

Now as the unquestioned starter in Philly, Foles can enjoy the confidence not only of his coaching staff, but of the players on whom he’ll heavily rely once more. The next step for Foles, of course, will be to increase the big plays that come through the passing game.

“Last year, he had a great percentage as far as completions, no interceptions, that type of thing,” McCoy said. “And now he’s not thinking that. He’s smart with the ball, there’s plays that he knows he can make that he takes.”

If the Eagles can get another season from like the one they just got, except them to once again stand at or near the top of the NFC East.
