New York Knicks Rumors: Marc Gasol top target for 2015 free agency
By Josh Hill
The New York Knicks tried to go out and get a free agent this summer but the only one they really targeted ended up heading out to Chicago instead. Carmelo Anthony, thankfully for Knicks fans, was not this free agent, rather Pau Gasol spurned his old head coach to try his hand at basketball in Chicago.

So what happens when you miss on Pau Gasol and need to find rebounding? Apparently, you target the younger version of Pau in his brother Marc.
According to Marc Berman from the New York Post, the Knicks will look to spend wisely moving forward and will be targeting rebounding in free agency next season — specifically the rebounding of Marc Gasol.
"Jackson said the club needs more rebounding and has a glut of guards he needs to straighten out, but is very wary of giving out a long-term deal as he looks to protect the 2015 cap space. Jackson also has to see whether second-rounder Cleanthony Early can be Carmelo Anthony’s backup. The Zen Master said he has been impressed with Early, but still called him “green.’’The Knicks will have major cap room in 2015 and center Marc Gasol is expected to be their top target — unless LeBron James opts out if things somehow crash in Cleveland."
Gasol has been mentioned a few times as a target of the Knicks and now that Carmelo Anthony took a $6 million discount on his max contract with the Knicks, there could be some money to play with next offseason that allows for someone like Marc Gasol to be acquired.
