Tuesday will be the chance for Mississippi State, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Tennessee to have their head coaches and players meet the media speak about the fate of their programs this season and what expectations are in store this season.
Dan Mullen will follow Steve Spurrier–who is sure to deliver some great one-liners–as the Bulldog’s head coach could turn in his best season as he enters his sixth season at Mississippi State. Tuesday’s morning session begins at 9:00 a.m. and lasts until noon, so Mullen should get to the podium around 10-10:30.
Joining Mullen at Media Days are defensive back Jay Hughes, linebacker Benardrick McKinney and quarterback Dak Prescott.
Hughes was ruptured his Achilles in the season opener vs. Oklahoma State and was lost for the remainder of the season. The Hattiesburg, Miss. native is competing to win the free safety job this fall as a senior.

McKinney is one of the top defenders in the country and one of the premier linebackers in the SEC. He has a future playing on Sunday’s and could be a potential first round draft next spring.
Prescott is the main attraction as quarterbacks usually are, but Prescott enters this season as a dark horse Heisman candidate after leading the team in passing and rushing last season. His penchant for 100-yard games on the ground and chemistry with an underrated group of receivers, led by the versatile Jameon Lewis, could result in Prescott leading a few upsets this year and challenging to be the top quarterback in the SEC.
Mississippi State went 7-6 (3-5 SEC) last season with a Liberty Bowl win over Rice to give Mullen his fourth straight season with at least seven wins and his third bowl win in that time frame.
Don’t be surprised if they win nine this year and you can expect Mullen’s optimism to be on display this year as opposed to last year when he mentioned how young his team was entering the 2013 season.
Those players are all grown up now and ready to compete in the big, bad SEC west.
