The Golden State Warriors’ pursuit of Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love is no secret. In fact, a deal would have probably already been reached if the Warriors would part ways with guard Klay Thompson, but they continue to refuse to part ways with Thompson in any deal.

Now the Cleveland Cavaliers are offering major competition for Love, but their refusal to include swingman Andrew Wiggins, the number one overall pick of last month’s draft could also hold up a deal.

Reportedly, Timberwolves’ head coach and president Flip Saunders and Warriors’ general manager Bob Myers were talking about a deal in Las Vegas Tuesday.

However, Marc Stein of ESPN.com the two sides are not progressing on a deal.

"The Warriors have been unwilling to offer the Timberwolves more than a combination of former All-Star forward David Lee and 2012 lottery pick Harrison Barnes — likely packaged with a future first-round pick — in exchange for Love and swingman Kevin Martin, according to sources……Minnesota could elect to wait to see if offers improve for Love as the pool of available free agents continues to dwindle, but an increasing number of rival executives expect the Timberwolves to trade him before next season starts, given how well known it is around the league that he intends to become a free agent in July 2015."

Love averaged 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game last season while shooting 45.7% from the field, 37.6% from three and 82.1% from the charity stripe. Thompson averaged 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 44.4% from the field, 41.7% from beyond the arc and 79.5% from the charity stripe. In the postseason, he put up 16.4 points, 3.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.8% from the field, 36.4% from three and 79.2% from the free throw line.
