The MLB trade market is booming at the moment with names and rumors about where certain players could and and which teams could end up being big players at the deadline.

More from Chicago Cubs

One name that has been discussed almost endlessly is Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price, who has been on the radar of the Seattle Mariners, St. Louis Cardinals and everyone in between. But the Chicago Cubs are starting to emerge as a team to watch in the David Price sweepstakes and they’re not that bad of an option.

According to Ken Rosenthal from FOXSports.com, the idea of the Chicago Cubs landing David Price in a trade is not all that unrealistic when you consider the facts and who well the idea works.

"Get Price, start promoting some of those young hitters in 2015, and then the Cubs actually might be onto something. Get Price, sign him long-term, and the team’s inability to lock up right-hander Jeff Samardzija will be long forgotten.Price no doubt would be open to the idea — he backed off his “coolest city to win a championship in” comment the next day, but friends long have said that he was tickled by the idea of playing for the Cubs."

There’s no saying that Chicago will for sure land Price in a trade nor would they be open to giving up what Tampa Bay would want, but while everyone is focused on someone like Seattle landing Price, the Cubs are starting to look like a darkhorse option that could surprise a lot of people at the deadline.
