The Spartans finished the season with a record of 13-1, including a perfect 8-0 record in the Big 10. They upset the then-unbeaten and second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 34-24 in the Big 10 Title Game and went on to defeat the Stanford Cardinal 24-20 in the Rose Bowl. Their lone loss came back September when they lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 17-13 on the road.
The Spartans have turned into a true Big 10 power under head coach Mark Dantonio and have cranked out pro players, especially on defense even without top-ranked recruiting classes.
The Spartans are trying to improve their recruiting and on Monday, they landed a pledge from 3-Star wide receiver Felton Davis Davis III.
“Everything just clicked,” Davis III told Spartan Tailgate’s Sean Scherer via text. “Coaching staff, players, atmosphere. It was all perfect for me.”
He officially announced his decision via twitter.
The 6’3, 175-pounder obviously has great size and gives the Spartans the big target everyone in college football can use. Davis III attends Highland Springs High School in Highland Springs, Virginia. He is ranked as the country’s 77th-best wide receiver prospect, the 21st-ranked overall prospect in the state of Virginia and the 615th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Daivs III committed on his visit to East Lansing Monday and has plans to visit the Ohio State Buckeyes Tuesday. He also holds offers from the Illinois Fighting Illini, Miami Hurricanes and Nebraska Cornhuskers, among others.
