Charlie Strong did a wonderful job as head coach of the Louisville Cardinals over the last four seasons. He guided the Cardinals to a 37-16 record, including a 20-9 conference and four bowl bids. In each of the last two seasons, the Cardinals went out in style, defeating the Florida Gators 33-23 in the 2013 Sugar Bowl and the Miami Hurricanes 36-9 in the 2013 Russell Athletic Bowl. In those two years, the Cardinals posted a record of 23-3. Only the Florida State Seminoles (26-2) have fewer losses in that same span.

Strong’s biggest strength is his recruiting at a 5-Star program like Texas, getting talent athletes shouldn’t be difficult. On Monday, one of those talented athletes, 3-star athlete/wide receiver/outside linebacker Louis Brown, gave his pledge to the Longhorns.

“The (Texas) coaches can teach me football so I can get to the next level. Coach (Charlie) Strong is one of the best defensive coaches in the nation and at the camp they taught me more things about playing defensive end in one day than what I learned in all of my years playing football,” Brown told Horns247.

The 6’6, 208-pound Brown is from Burton, Texas and attends Burton High School. He is ranked as the country’s 33rd-best athlete prospect, the 49th-best overall prospect from the state of Texas and the 361st-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings (Brown is ranked as a 4-Star prospect by 24/7 Sports).

Brown committed to the Baylor Bears back in March but decommitted last month.

Brown chose the Longhorns over offers from the Bears, Mississippi State Bulldogs and Nebraska Cornhuskers, among others.
