With the Destiny beta going live earlier this week on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, gamers across both platforms, codes or not, now have an invite.

Activision and Bungie have opened the Destiny beta to the public, and the most difficult multiplayer mode is making its return this weekend as well.  Iron Banner is not for the faint of heart, and those just getting into the game will be at a significant disadvantage.

In The Crucible multiplayer, gamers are able to participate, and the stats of their weapons and armor are even across the entire playing field.  In the Iron Banner however, players who have spent time acquiring the best gear, will reap the rewards of their significant advantage.

While the beta is playable, and open to all until Sunday June 27, the Iron Banner event will run through only certain time blocks today and Saturday.  You can jump into Iron Banner events from 10 a.m until 12 p.m., 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., all Pacific times, on both Friday and Saturday.

For Iron Banner events, players will fight on one of four maps, including Earth, Mars, Venus, and the Moon.  Speaking to Lord Saladin near the landing zone will allow you to join the Iron Banner events.  Rewards can only be unlocked during the specific event windows.  By signing in at 2pm Pacific time on Saturday, in order to help load test the game, players can earn a permanent in-game emblem.

Following the beta’s end on Sunday, the game will go into final development for its release on September 9.
