The MLB Trade Deadline is just right around the corner which means we’re going to hear rumored deals that have been kicked around all month either solidify into something real or fall apart thanks to being just smokescreens.

More from Boston Red Sox

One player who was hearing his name mentioned more and more was Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy, who is now on his way to the San Francisco Giants in yet another big trade before the deadline passes later this month.

According to Jon Heyman from CBSSports.com, the deal was made on Saturday morning as the Red Sox have found a taker for their veteran arm and will be shipping him to the Bay Area where he’ll try to get the Giants to the psotseason and back to the World Series.

Earlier in the morning and in the overnight hours, FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal reported that the San Francisco Giants were on the verge of acquiring Jake Peavy from the Boston Red Sox in a deal that will sneak right under the deadline.

It was a trade that was going to happen, as it was just a matter of time before the Giants pulled the trigger on a trade that landed them the starting help that the so badly need. While David Price was on the radar for a short while, the acquisition of Peavy comes at a much cheaper price, and his veteran presence may be what the Giants need in their rotation as they make a push for yet another World Series crown.
