The San Francisco 49ers have a barrage of running backs on their roster, which is a good thing to have in case of them goes down with an injury.

That seems to be the case with running back Kendall Hunter, who after coming off of an injury plagued few seasons, has once again found himself on the wrong side of the injury report. According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the Niners running back suffered a leg injury in practice on Friday that the team believes could be serious.

It could just be a big scare at the end of the day but the bottom line is that Hunter is injury prone and another injury that derails his season is not at all what he needed. There was hope that he’d assume the backup running back role at one point in time but now with the presence of Marcus Lattimore and Carlos Hyde, as well as LaMichael James on roster, it seems this could be the injury that ends Hunter’s time in San Francisco.
