With the MLB Trade Deadline now just days away, teams like the Boston Red Sox are going to have to decide if they’re going to be buyers or sellers in the market.

More from Boston Red Sox

Boston is torn and on the fence, it seems, about whether to buy or sell as the deadline approaches. They’re talking about deals that would ship off Jon Lester, Andrew Miller, Jonny Gomes and others while at the same time being in on deals for Cole Hamels and Troy Tulowitzki.

Similarly, the Los Angeles Dodgers seem to be on the fence about what to do with Matt Kemp as on the one hand, the team wants to get rid of his now terrible contract and look towards the future instead, but at the same time the team is looking at keeping him which is something that may end up paying off if he can get back to where he was a few years ago.

According to Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com, despite there being rumors of a potential deal, there are still rumblings that the Dodgers would prefer to hold onto Matt Kemp for the rest of the season just to see how things pan out.

"Talks with the Dodgers, according to sources, have not advanced to the point of swapping names. The Dodgers, who are coming off a sweep of the Giants, are telling at least some inquisitors they plan to keep Kemp, though one source insisted Monday his name remains in play."

Kemp could rebound in the second half of the season for the Dodgers which is something that would be better than anything they can acquire, but that’s a huge wild card. A deal isn’t being rushed but we could see movement soon on this deal as the Red Sox and Dodgers want to get something done if everything falls into place.
