Jon Lester trade rumors: Miami Marlins not out of the picture?
By Dan Zinski
Are the Miami Marlins in on Jon Lester or are they not? Comments by front office executive Michael Hill certainly made it seem like they were out. But a report says Miami has not entirely exited the Jon Lester picture.

Juan C. Rodriguez of the Sun-Sentinel says:
"The demand is such that the Red Sox seem poised to acquire at least one top-shelf prospect in return. Though the Marlins aren’t willing to deal a young gun like Andrew Heaney for two months of Lester or anyone else, an American League source in contact with the Red Sox said the Marlins are “not completely” out of the sweepstakes."
Michael Hill has indicated that Miami would look to add starting pitching but would not give up big-time prospects just for a rental like Lester, who is a free agent after the season and would almost certainly not re-sign with the Marlins:
"“We’re not going to be foolish,” President of Baseball Operations Michael Hill said. “We’re not going to be short-sighted. I think we understand where we’re at as an organization, but we also understand where we’re trying to go. I think that’s the balance that you strike at this time of year.”"
Miami dealing good prospects to land Lester, going nowhere and then watching Lester walk would not be a very good look for them. This doesn’t feel like the right year for Miami to make such a bold decision.
