The Arizona Cardinals and cornerback Patrick Peterson agreed to a enormous contract extension worth five years and $70 million, $48 of which is guaranteed.

So you knew it was a matter of time before Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman responded. Sherman tends to weigh in on all matters related to cornerbacks around the NFL, particularly those claiming to be better than him. While Sherman deciding to respond was not so surprising, he did in a subtle way by retweeting this stat.

Of course Peterson wasn’t going to let it go and tweeted his response.

Then Sherman scoreboarded him for the win.

Later in the day, Peterson expanded upon the beef.

“I don’t how he feels about it, but I think it’s fun, healthy competition,” Peterson said, via AZCardinals.com’s Darren Urban. “I’m having fun with it, sometimes it seems like he’s a little salty with it. I don’t have any problems with Richard. I don’t have any beef with him. I am having fun. I don’t know if he’s having fun. We have had our exchanges over the last month or so and obviously he is still exchanging words this morning, but it is what it is. I have no ill feelings toward Richard. I wish him the best of luck throughout his career and season and I guess it’ll be must-watch TV when we play Seattle.”
