Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage recognized Aaron Donald’s incredible talent at — where else — the Senior Bowl. Donald’s performance there validated his excellence at Pittsburgh and vaulted the young defensive tackle up draft boards to where he was taken a No. 13 overall by the St. Louis Rams. Savage didn’t hesitate to say I told you so.

More from NFL

“Aaron Donald had a sensational week down there,” Savage said, via STLToday.com. “Really kind of burst on the scene so to speak. I think most people thought he was probably a top of the second, maybe later first-round pick. So I think the game and the practices definitely helped him. He was really unblockable down there.”

Donald had the transition from college to the Senior Bowl down. He’s got to make the bigger step into the professional game. He spoke about the difference with ESPN back in July.

“We are definitely learning a lot,” Donald said, via ESPN. “When they say everybody in the NFL is good, so far I have been seeing that. Guys can move a lot better and once they get their hands on you, they’ve got you, so I’m just making sure I work on my technique so they can’t grab me and get their hands on me.”

Donald is a lock at starting defensive tackle and shores up a young, defensive that could have the most upside in the league. Robert Quin, Chris Long, Michael Brockers and Donald will be a force that offensive line coaches to put together a phenomenal game. They’re potential is limitless.
