Eagles owner predicts Andy Reid-like run for Chip Kelly
By Mike Dyce
The Philadelphia Eagles parted ways with long-time head coach Andy Reid last offseason and hired Oregon head coach Chip Kelly to replace him. Kelly brought an unorthodox uptempo offense to the NFL and Eagles and seemed like a potentially risky hire.

In Kelly’s first season with the Eagles, he led the team to an NFC East championship and the 2013 NFL Playoffs. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie foresees another long run with Kelly as the head coach.
“Look, we want to pick someone who has the capability to be here for the next 10, 15 years,” Lurie revealed to NFL Media’s Albert Breer.
“I got the feeling he was capable of that,” Lurie added. “People will learn about themselves. Coaches will learn. Do they want to stay in the same place? Do they want to move around? You can’t control that. But he has the ability to develop a program that was already successful, and make it even better. They were successful (at Oregon). We had all that success (with Reid). But we want to be better than we were, not stay the same.”
