Jerry Rice Jr was hoping to work his way onto a NFL roster, and he was being given the chance by the Washington Redskins.

More from NFL

Rice Jr. was signed by the Redskins as an undrafted free agent after tryouts with the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens, before ultimately joining the Washington roster for camp.

Unfortunately for Rice Jr., who is the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, his rookie training camp has come to an end because of a torn labrum.

The injury will likely require surgery.

News of the torn labrum surfaced on the team’s official Twitter account Friday afternoon.

We will now have to wait to see how the Redskins decide to proceed.

Most likely, he will land on the injured reserve list or he could reach a settlement with the team and be waived.
