From Thursday night in old Miami: After a fly ball and a tag-up, the Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton throws out the Reds’ Zack Cosart at the plate to complete the double play. But did Marlins catcher Jeff Mathis fail to give Cosart a clear path the plate? Reds manager Brian Price thinks so.

More from Miami Marlins

The umpires send the call up to the command center in New York to review the play. After over six agonizing minutes of review, the replay officials send back the verdict: call reversed.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond comes out to calmly argue the umpires’ decision.

By the end of his calm, rational, measured protest, Mike Redmond has untucked his jersey, lost his hat and probably voided his bowels.

I think it’s safe to say Mike Redmond is not a fan of replay or the new blocking-the-plate rule.

If MLB’s purpose was to create pooploads of rule-related controversy this year, they have succeeded massively. I sincerely hope that these rules don’t cause a situation in a crucial postseason game.

Could you imagine the seventh game of the World Series being decided by a replay call? Oh God. Call out the militia.

Meanwhile, somebody give Mike Redmond a hug, please.
