By Sam Richmond
The Miami Heat agreed to terms with small forward Shawne Williams on Friday. While it’s not exactly a big move from the team’s perspective, it will have sizable ramifications for free agent Michael Beasley.

Considering the two play the same position, Beasley’s second stint with the Heat is in all likelihood now over.
From Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel:
It’s a tough break for Beasley, considering Heat president Pat Riley said on Wednesday that the forward was “still a consideration,” according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Still, Beasley doesn’t appear to be completely out of options. The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in his services, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
"The Los Angeles Lakers are considering signing free-agent forward Michael Beasley and brought in the six-year veteran for a workout at their El Segundo, California, practice facility Wednesday, according to multiple sources.“[Beasley] looked very good and he has been working out,” one source said. “A tiny rust from layoff, but [he] did a good job.”"
Whether it’s with the Lakers or another team, Beasley will latch on someplace. He’s still just 25 and possesses offensive potential. He averaged 7.9 points (49.9 percent shooting from the floor and 38.9 percent from beyond the arc) and 3.1 rebounds per game last season with Miami.
The Heat selected Beasley with the No. 2 pick in the 2008 draft. He has also played with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns.
