The Denver Broncos look to be pretty stacked on both sides of the ball as they plan for the 2014 season, carrying Super Bowl expectations once again.

One spot that they would like to address, however, is their kick return game. Last season they had explosive moments from the undersized Trindon Holliday, but ultimately he struggled too much holding onto to the football for the Broncos’ liking. That led to a situation where the team was using the oft-concussed Wes Welker as a punt returner, which also was not an ideal situation.

Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com writes that the Broncos remain in the hunt for help in the return game. He spoke with special teams coach Jeff Rodgers, who said the following:

"“There’s a role for every type of player in the kicking game,” Rodgers said. ” … We want to find those guys in our roster, who have a role on offense or defense where they are a part of the 53 and who can emerge on special teams.”"

Rodgers did admit that the team will consider Welker and newly signed Emmanuel Sanders to fill those roles, but they would still like to see somebody else emerge and make the roster:

"“We’re still in evaluation mode. As far as the guys that we have — pretty likely Wes and Emmanuel are going to make the roster — so we have those guys who’ve done it in games in place. What we’re looking for in our roster: Can somebody else emerge to take that job?”"

The Broncos added Holliday off the scrap heap a couple years ago, if you’ll pardon the expression, after the Texans parted ways with him. They will have to look for similar options to boost their special teams between now and 2014.
