The Dallas Cowboys already knew that they would be without starting quarterback Tony Romo, who is dealing with a back injury, for their preseason opener against the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night.

They will also be without one of their top returning defenders, cornerback Morris Claiborne.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Claiborne is dealing with a sore tendon in his right knee.

Claiborne injured his knee at the end of July and has been limited at practice since.

The good news, however, is that head coach Jason Garrett does not seem to be too concerned about the status of Claiborne moving forward.

"“Well, you want players out there, obviously,” Garrett said. “And Mo has really had a good offseason, like we talked about, and a good start to camp. He has missed the last few days. We do anticipate him being back fairly soon and having the bulk of training camp in front of him to continue to grow and develop. But you don’t want to lose sight of the fact he’s off to a good start and doing a lot of good things.”"

Claiborne is no stranger to missing preseason games, so he should be just fine by the time the regular season rolls around barring a setback.
