5-Star DT Trent Thompson sets decision date
5-Star defensive tackle Trent Thompson is considered by many to be the best prospect in the class of 2015. He spent much of the offseason as the top ranked recruit in the class but currently is ranked as the second-best overall prospect, behind weak-side defensive end Josh Sweat, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

The 64, 292-pound Thompson is from Albany, Georgia and attends Westover High School.
Every school in the country would love to get their hands on Thompson and in less than a week, whatever school is going to land Thompson will know in less than a week – Thompson will be announcing on Tuesday, the anniversary of his grandmother and grandfather.
“I plan to announce my commitment Aug. 12, my grandmother and grandfather’s anniversary,” Thompson told 247Sports Tuesday evening via Kiipp Adams.
The in-state Georgia Bulldogs were the first team to hand Thompson an offer and have since been considered a heavy favorite to land him. Thompson has taken several trips to Georgia, including his most recent trip back in Junes. The Auburn Tigers have been in the number two spot with Thompson for some time and his interest in the defending SEC Champions appears to be very real. Many believed the National Champion Florida State Seminoles were squarely in the mix and were the biggest threat to the Bulldogs but it looks like the Alabama Crimson Tide have also moved ahead of the Seminoles and are running third. The Clemson Tigers rounded out Thompson’s top five in June.
Thompson made 83 tackles and 12 sacks as a junior last season.
