When Chicago Bears wide receiver Marquess Wilson suffered a fractured clavicle, the team began looking for options. Santonio Holmes, a veteran wide receiver, was one of the players who received interest from the Bears, along with Ben Obomanu.

However, it doesn’t appear that Holmes is likely to sign with the team.

According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bears worked out Holmes but do not appear to have him in their future plans.

Schefter wrote on social media:

Holmes, who has battled injuries over the past few seasons, was released by the New York Jets earlier this offseason.

Since his release, Holmes received very little interest.

The fact that the Bears were willing to bring Holmes in for a visit is a positive sign for his chances of making a return to the league in 2014, but there is still a long way to go.
