Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller was a massive disappointment last season. After a 2012 campaign in which he ran for 1,244 yards on 6.0 yards per carry, the speedster posted just 933 yards on 4.6 yards per rush in 2013.

Now, Spiller is telling the Associated Press that all the doubt from the public that has come from his down year has him motivated to perform in 2014.

"”Oh yeah, it’s definitely a fire burning. I haven’t forgotten what was written out there,” Spiller told The Associated Press following a recent practice in training camp. ”I’ve got my axe ready to chip away some wood.”"

Spiller also added that he’s healthy now after a season in which he dealt with a quad injury and a high-ankle sprain.

"”Obviously, I wish I wouldn’t have gotten hurt. But that’s one of the things that just happen,” Spiller said, assessing the year. ”But to be able to do what I was able to do with me just having one healthy leg, I thought it was very impressive.”(…)”I feel 100 percent,” he said."

The Bills better hope Spiller can remain that way for much of the season. While Fred Jackson is a quality back and remains in the fold, Spiller is a game-changing talent and Buffalo needs him on the field and producing like he did two years ago if they are to contend for a playoff spot.

The Bills went 6-10 this past season.
