The Chicago Cubs are not going to be making the postseason this year, but that’s not stop them from making deals.

More from Chicago Cubs

Chicago was the team that claimed Cole Hamels but it doesn’t look like a deal is going to be made. Still, the Cubs made a deal nonetheless and acquired a pitcher from the Miami Marlins. According to Keith Law from ESPN.com, the Cubs have taken on the recently banished Jacob Turner, who was waived by the Marlins and claimed by the Cubs.

Rather than just give him up, the Marlins have facilitated a trade that lands them the pitcher for a pair of prospects.

It’s not the biggest or most intense transaction that the Cubs could have made, but it’s looking like the deal might help get the Cubs a boost in their pitching staff down the stretch of the season.

Chicago isn’t going anywhere very fast this year but when they do start to pick things up, then they’re going to have tools that they can make sure are big parts of the future and helping them claw their way out of obscurity.
