The New England Patriots are looking at what they should do about Rob Gronkowski but it appears that he’s getting closer to getting back to where he was a few years ago when he was ready for full contact Week 1 of the season.

More from New England Patriots

Gronkowski isn’t getting full contact in Patriots practice at the moment but it appears that he’s going to be getting full contact in the near future. For now though, Gronkowski is letting everyone know that while he’s back on the right track to be back for the start of the season, he’s not yet getting the type of contact in practice that he’d like to be getting.

According to Michael David Smith from Pro Football Talk, the Patriots are allowing Gronkowski to do more and more but they’re limiting this drills and what he can do in practice.

"“I’m going full-speed in the drills I’m doing, but they’re just limiting the drills I can do. Most likely, when I’m cleared for contact, it will be full-go, too,” Gronkowski said."

It’s really only a matter of time before the Patriots give Gronkowski the type of drills that he needs to get back to level he will need to be at to be effective this season, but for now, the last thing the Patriots want to do is rush Gronkowski back for yet another season or bungle the entire process yet again.
