Announced, originally, back when the PlayStation 4 was first unveiled in February 2013, the function that would allow players who didn’t have a copy of a game to remotely play a friend’s copy finally has a name, PlayShare.

PlayShare is being touted as the big added feature coming with firmware 2.0 on the PS4 later this year. However, other than the basic facts about it, not much else is known about what games will be compatible with the new feature.

In an interview with Weekly Famitsu, since translated by Kotaku, Sony Worldwide Studio president Shuhei Yoshida explained exactly how the feature will work for PS4 owners.

“How it works is, for example, say, a friend has a game that I don’t. I ask them to let me play it, and if they send me an invitation, I can access their PS4 and play while watching the video that is streamed,” said Yoshida. “You could call it a mini PlayStation Now.”

But what games will be available to play via SharePlay? Well, Yoshida claims that any game that uses a DualShock 4 will be compatible with the feature. Yoshida added that developers won’t have to do anything special with their games in order to make them compatible with SharePlay.

Unfortunately, if you are one of those players allowing a friend to play a game via SharePlay on your system, you won’t be able to do anything else with your console. Imagine it as a remote connect session with your PC, that person has access to everything on your PS4 console.

SharePlay is coming later this year in firmware version 2.0.
